BBB Warns Accredited Businesses:  “Beware of Companies Claiming BBB Affiliation”

Austin, TX – May 6, 2009 – BBB serving Central, Coastal and Southwest Texas has been made aware of e-mails and phone calls accredited businesses have received from businesses stating or implying they are affiliated with BBB. However, those businesses are not affiliated with BBB.

We have been informed that representatives of BizzSpot and CheckourRating.com have either stated or implied, in phone messages and phone conversations, that they are working with BBB or calling on behalf of BBB. However, these companies have no relationship with this BBB, and BBB does not recommend or endorse their services.

This BBB has not authorized BizzSpot, CheckourRating.com, Consumer Guide, Scott Talley or any other third party vendor to contact BBB Accredited Businesses on its behalf, and we ask that you let us know if you receive any contacts from businesses claiming a BBB affiliation.

BBB would like to assure our accredited businesses that BBB does not use third party vendors and has not authorized any company to contact them on its behalf. Additionally, BBB does not endorse these entities and accredited businesses have no obligation to enter into or continue a business relationship with any company claiming a relationship with BBB.
